PG’s uit Koninkrijk bijeen op Bonaire
KRALENDIJK – De Procureur-generaal (PG) van Curaçao, Sint Maarten en de BESeilanden, Guus Schram, was dinsdag 1 november gastheer van het halfjaarlijkse Koninkrijks PG-overleg (KPG-overleg), dat ditmaal plaatsvond op Bonaire.

Tweemaal per jaar voeren de PG van Curaçao, Sint Maarten en de BES, de PG van Aruba en een lid van het Nederlandse College van procureurs-generaal overleg met elkaar. Behalve de voorbereiding van het Justitieel Vierpartijen Overleg (10 januari a.s. in Aruba), komen in dit KPG-overleg ook andere onderwerpen ter sprake. Deze hebben veelal betrekking op de afstemming van opsporing en vervolging en de onderlinge samenwerking. Het KPG-overleg heeft daarmee tot doel de Openbaar Ministeries van de verschillende landen zoveel mogelijk te laten profiteren van het feit dat zij opereren binnen hetzelfde Koninkrijk.

Voor deze editie was Theo Bot, lid van de Raad voor de Rechtshandhaving, uitgenodigd om met de PG’s te spreken over de staat van de rechtshandhaving en de wijze waarop meer rendement kan worden gehaald uit de opvolging van de nuttige inspecties en rapporten van de Raad. Daarnaast hebben de PG’s ideeën uitgewisseld en afspraken gemaakt waarmee de samenwerking tussen de Landsrecherches van Curaçao, Sint Maarten en Aruba en de Nederlandse Rijksrecherche kan worden verbeterd en geïntensiveerd. Daarmee kwam een vervolg op de bijeenkomst die in mei plaatsvond rond het vorige KPG-overleg, waarin met de diensthoofden van de Landsrecherches en de directeur van de Rijksrecherche al over dit overwerp werd gesproken.

Na afloop van het KPG-overleg werden kennismakingsbezoeken gebracht aan Rijksvertegenwoordiger Gilbert Isabella en gezaghebber Edison Rijna. Daarnaast was er een ontmoeting met de korpsleiding van het KPCN, waarbij onder andere werd gesproken over hoe het politiekorps er momenteel voor staat en welke gevolgen de gewelddadige dood van diender Ferry Bakx heeft gehad voor Bonaire, en voor het korps in het bijzonder.

KRALENDIJK – The Attorney-general of Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the BES-islands, Guus Schram, hosted on Tuesday November 1st the bi-yearly meeting of Attorneygeneral’s in the Kingdom. This time the meeting was held on Bonaire.

Twice a year the AG’s of Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the BES-islands, Aruba and AG’s member of the Dutch ‘College van Procureurs-generaal’ meet and consult on several matters. Besides the preparation of the Judicial Four Parties Meeting (on January 10 in Aruba), also other matters are discussed. These often relate to the coordination of investigation and prosecution and mutual cooperation. The AGconsultation therefore seeks the Public Prosecutor’s Offices of the different countries to benefit as much as possible from the fact that they operate within the same Kingdom.

For this edition Theo Bot, a member of the Council for Law Enforcement, was invited to speak with the AG’s about the state of the law and how more efficiency can be reached from the succession of useful inspections and Council reports. In addition, the AG’s exchanged ideas and agreed that cooperation between the National Detectives Agency’s (Landsrecherche) of Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Aruba and the Dutch National Criminal Investigation can be improved and intensified.

This was a follow up to the meeting that took place in May during the previous AG’s consultation, were talks were held with the heads of the National Detectives Agency of Curaçao and Sint Maarten and the Director of the State Investigation Department.

After the meeting of AG’s a visit was realized to the Dutch Representative of the BES-islands, Gilbert Isabella and Island Governor Edison Rijna. There was also a meeting with the leadership of the KPCN. One of the many topics was how the police force is currently handling the consequences after the violent death of policeofficer Ferry Bakx. How this has affected the community and the police-force in particular.
