Kustwacht ondersteunt drugvangst bij Colombia.
 
Afgelopen zondagmiddag heeft de Kustwacht Caribisch Gebied (KWCARIB) een bijdrage geleverd aan een aanzienlijke drugvangst door de collega’s van de Colombiaanse Marine. Het patrouillevliegtuig van de Kustwacht, de DASH-8, heeft in samenwerking met Amerikanen  een ‘Go-Fast’ gevolgd.  Zodoende kon de snelle boot worden aangehouden voor de kust van Colombia door eenheden van de Colombiaanse Marine. De go-fast was initieel vertrokken richting  het noorden maar moest  vanwege pech omdraaien. De lading cocaïne, met een gewicht van 412 kilo, is in beslaggenomen en de twee opvarenden zijn aangehouden.

Last Sunday afternoon the Dutch Caribbean Coastguard (DCCG) assisted in the interception of a significant amount of drugs by the colleagues of the Colombian Navy. The patrol aircraft of the Coast Guard, the DASH-8, followed a  ‘Go Fast’ in collaboration with the Americans. The Colombian Navy was able to intercept the fast boot near the coast of Colombia. The go-fast left Colombia in the northern direction, but had to turn back due to engine failure. The load of cocaine, totaling 412 kilos, was confiscated and the two crew members were arrested.
