De afgelopen dagen ontmoette de staatssecretaris Alida Francis, de regeringscommissaris van Sint Eustatius, en maakte zij kennis met Statia.

“Het gesprek dat ik voerde met Paul Spanner en Ismael Berkel over de gevolgen van slavernij op Sint Eustatius maakte diepe indruk op mij. We spraken o.a. over hoe respectvol om te gaan met de stoffelijke resten van de tot slaaf gemaakten bij het vliegveld.”

De staatssecretaris gaf verder aan te genieten van de bezoeken aan o.a. het zonnepark, het zien van de vernieuwde sociale woningen en de ontmoetingen met alle Statians.
