Nine New Tourist Guide Trainers Certified
WILLEMSTAD – November 26, 2025 – Recently, nine tourist guides received their certificate after completing an intensive Tourist Guide Trainer course offered by Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) in close collaboration with World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA). Tourist Guides play an important role in providing accurate information to our visitors, including history, heritage, and significant sites in Curaçao. The two-week course included a combination of practical training sessions aimed at refreshing and strengthening guiding techniques. It also covered key Train the Trainer components, emphasizing the skills required to develop training programs and provide coaching. The program concluded with a final exam. All participants who completed the course were certified as National Trainers under the structure of WFTGA. During a pleasant ceremony, CTB Managing Director, Mr. Muryad de Bruin together with Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Mr. Sithree van Heydoorn, presented certificates to the participants.
The course was delivered by a Lead International Trainer from WFTGA, who traveled from Norway to offer the program to participants in Curaçao. The two-week course covered topics such as Cultural Awareness, Itinerary Planning, Crisis Management, Designing and Managing Tourist Guide Training Courses, Facilitating Interactive Classroom Sessions, the Power of Feedback, and Coaching Skills. Participants also practiced walking tour, site tour, and vehicle tour techniques.
The knowledge gained equips each participant with the necessary skills to train, coach and certify future tourist guides as part of a local and internationally recognized framework.
