On Monday, March 9, 2026, Parliament convened in Urgent Public Meeting no. 13 to discuss the current state of operational and sanitary conditions in public schools, including supply shortages and instructional resource constraints.
The Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport (ECYS), Ms. Melissa D. Gumbs, give a presentation, providing an overview of the challenges, ongoing assessments, and measures being taken by the Ministry. The Minister was accompanied by the Secretary General of the Ministry and support staff of the Cabinet of the Minister.
Thereafter in accordance with the speaker’s list, Members of Parliament were given the opportunity to pose questions to the Minister in round one. The meeting was then adjourned to allow the Minister time to prepare the answers to the questions posed by the Members of Parliament.
