Minister Lee congratulates the NIPA and Kidz at Sea Foundation
Minister of VSA Emil Lee congratulates the NIPA and Kidz at Sea Foundation on the recent signing of the service level agreement. This agreement will expand the maritime certification opportunities for NIPA students. The certifications that come with the program will help dedicated graduates become more “marketable” in the growing local marine industry. According to Minister Lee, the prospect of graduating with International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO’s) standard certifications not only makes you more employable but also helps to obtain an international career.
“It is good that we can highlight the steps that Government is making to match the interests and skills of local talents with the demands of the market place. In the marine industry, it is critical to have the right certifications; you cannot depend on talent and skillset alone. I would like to commend both NIPA and Kidz at Sea for helping to bring the educational resources together to give our people the opportunity to participate in this sector.” – Minister Emil Lee, VSA
Over the years, the local marine industry had been identified as a key industry for economic value and growth, taking into account the strategic location of Sint Maarten. Minister Lee commends the Kidz at Sea foundation for their work post Irma, in giving local youth access to the opportunities in the marine industry.
