POLICE PRESS RELEASE
Detectives investigate ill-treatment with a weapon
Detectives are presently investigating a case of ill-treatment with a weapon which took place on Tuesday May 14th at approximately 10.00 p.m. on the Welfare road in the vicinity of Peiking Supermarket. An argument between two men which escalated in the fight resulted in one of men stabbing the other with a knife. The victim was treated on the scene and then taken to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further medical treatment and has been admitted to hospital for observation. The suspect identified with initials E.F.R. was arrested on the scene shortly after. He was taken to the police headquarters where he remains in custody for questioning and further investigation.
Suspect arrested for attempted armed robbery
A male suspect identified with initials D.D.K. (29) was arrested by police on Wednesday May 15th in connection with an ongoing attempted armed robbery. The attempted robbery of a client took place on Saturday April 27th at Empire Gentle man Club located in Defiance. Suspect was taken to the Police Head Quarters for questioning by investigators of the Special Unit Robbery and where he remains in custody for further investigation.
KPSM officers graduate/ Department continues to recruit
On Wednesday May 15th, 16 police officers from the Class of 2016 attended their graduation ceremony that was held in front of the Police Head Quarters in Philipsburg. The graduation was attended to by His Excellency the Governor of Sint Maarten Drs. Eugene Holiday, many government officials and department heads, representatives of several local associations and communities, colleagues, family members and friends.
The Police Chief Carl John, the police management team and representatives from the Nederlandse Politie Academy (N.P.A.) proudly congratulated all of the graduates for their academic achievements and expressed sincere thanks to the family-members for the support they have given them while they were in training. KPSM continues to train its personnel to the highest level possible to give the foundation on which to build a carrier offering the highest level of professional police service. Two classes are presently going through the same intense training one of which will be doing their final exams early next year.
