POLICE PRESS RELEASE
In accordance to the year plan of the Cops & Kids program hosted by KPSM, the activities for the sports day was held on Friday May the 18th 2019 at the John Cooper / Jose Lake sr. Ball Park at L.B Scott road.
The schools that participated in the sports day this year are where: Genevieve De Weever Primary school, Dr. Martin Luther Primary school, Leonard Conner School, Seven day Adventist school and Sister Regina School. The aforementioned school participated in 4 different sport activities, namely Soccer, tug-of-war, relay race and fill-the-bottle.
The overall winner of the 2019 annual Cops & Kids sports day was the Leonard Conner School. Genevieve De Weever Primary school placed 2nd the Seven day Adventist school placed 3rd, Dr .Martin Luther king places 4th and the sister Regina school places 5th.
Special thanks to the sponsors of this event, the Rotary Sunrise who supplied snacks, drinks and trophies, the Management of the soccer field at Emilio Wilson’s estate, and the management team of KPSM who supplies us with water.
The Police force of St. Maarten would like to thank all the participating schools, school managers and the Inspectorate of education for their cooperation and assistance in making this Cops & Kids sports day in a huge success. Also visiting the event were the Chief of Police Carl John and The Police Spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson. (See pics attached)
Detectives of the Special Unit Robbery are presently investigating an armed robbery which took place on Sunday May 19th at approximately 01.30 a.m. on the Sint Peters road in the vicinity of TESCO Supermarket. The police patrol that was sent to investigate what had taken place encountered the four victims for the robbery.
According to the statements all four men were on their way home after leaving the house of a friend where they had a few drinks. While heading towards their home on the L.B. Scot road they were attacked by four men riding on two scooters. These men had their faces covered. One of the robbers pulled a gun and aimed at then while the other robber held a knife in his hand. The forced the victims to hand over their money. The victim told the robbers they had no money at which the robber with the gun struck one of the victims with the butt of the gun in his head. The robber with the knife stabbed another victim in his one of his legs.
Their money and cellular telephones were stolen from them. After committing this act the suspects jump back onto the scooters and fled the scene. The two injured victims were treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Centre for further treatment. All four victims are from South American descent.
