Crime and traffic figures 2024 Caribbean Netherlands

In February 2025, the Chief of Police, Mr. Alwyn Braaf, and the Head of Basic Police Care (BPZ), Mr. Edwin van der Giessen, of the Dutch Caribbean Police Force (KPCN) visited Saba and Sint Eustatius to present the crime and traffic figures of 2024 to the Island Council members and Governors of both islands. During these meetings, the figures were explained and a constructive dialogue took place about the trends and challenges in the field of safety. The discussions were valuable and provided important insights into the local safety needs and points of attention.

In the following week, the KPCN presented the figures again, this time to the Island Council of and the Governor of Bonaire. Here too, open and substantive discussions took place, during which questions were answered and the impact of the figures on the safety policy was discussed.

Today, Tuesday the 11th of March, the crime and traffic figures for 2024 were also presented to the press on Bonaire. During this meeting, further explanations were given on the most important developments and the opportunity was given to ask questions. Sharing and analyzing crime and traffic figures is of great importance for an effective and transparent safety policy. By discussing this information with local authorities and society, not only insight is provided into current developments, but joint priorities can also be determined to further reduce crime and traffic unsafety.

KPCN continues to work for a safe society in the Caribbean Netherlands and values the cooperation with local authorities and communities to work together on safer and more livable islands.
