Statia Government 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠

Following precautionary monitoring of the reported oil seepage incident in Antigua, a Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard aircraft conducted an aerial assessment near the reported location late yesterday afternoon. The assessment confirmed that no oil spill was present and that there is no evidence of any discharge posing a risk to Statia or Saba.

The situation involves limited leakage from a landfill site, resulting in a light petroleum sheen on the water surface. Such sheens typically dissipate naturally.
