Statia Government Statia Harbour Emergency Drill

𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥
An emergency drill took place at the Statia Harbour on 31 March 2026 to see how agencies respond in a maritime emergency.
The scenario included a vessel collision, fire, injuries, and an evacuation. During the drill, the port was placed on MARSEC Level 3 (maritime security level, the highest alert level).
Several agencies took part, including the Statia Port Authority, Police, Fire Department, Ambulance Services, Sea Rescue, and KMAR (Royal Netherlands Military Police).
The drill showed good teamwork and quick response times. It also highlighted areas for improvement.
Exercises like this are required under the ISPS Code, an international security standard for ports and ships. These exercises help keep the port and community safe.
