Kustwacht houdt drie verdachten aan op Curaçao De Kustwacht Caribisch Gebied (KWCARIB) heeft vannacht 24 februari, drie (3) personen aangehouden. Allen met de Venezolaanse nationaliteit.
Vannacht omstreeks 00.30 uur detecteerde de radaroperator van het Reddings en Coordinatie Centrum van de Kustwacht een verdacht contact op de radar ten zuiden van Curaçao. Hierop werd een patrouille met een Super-RHIB van het Kustwacht steunpunt gelijk ingezet. Ter hoogte van de Vrijgezellenbaai, troffen ze een onverlicht vaartuig type yola aan met drie (3) opvarenden. Allen met de Venezolaanse nationaliteit. Geen van de opvarenden kon een geldige verblijfvergunning tonen. Het vaartuig met opvarenden is opgebracht naar het steunpunt te Parera, waar ze zijn overgedragen aan de Politie. Het vaartuig is in beslag genomen. De zaak is verder in onderzoek.

This morning around 00.30 o’ clock, the radar operator of the Rescue and Coordination Centre from the Coastguard detected a suspicious contact on the radar south of Curaçao. A Super-RHIB patrol was immediately launched from sub-station Curaçao. At Vrijgezellen Bay, an unlit vessel type yola was detected with three (3) people on board. All three with the Venezuelan nationality. None of them could show a valid residence permit so they were taken including the vessel to the coastguard pier in Parera. There they were handed over to the Police.The vessel was confiscated. The xcase is further under investigation.
