Two armed robberies under investigation
The Special Unit Robbery is presently investigating two separate armed robberies which took place on Tuesday March 7th. The first robbery took place at approximately 08.00 p.m. at the Wing Dah Supermarket located on the Nazareth road. One masked and armed suspect came into the establishment and while threatening the cashier stole an undisclosed amount of cash and the fled the scene on foot.
The second robbery took place at approximately 08.15 p.m. at the Victory Mini-market located on the A. Th. Illidge road opposite the Sol Gas Station. An unknown masked man with a gun threatened the cashier and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and the fled the scene on foot.The Special Unit Robbery is asking anyone who may have any information regarding these two robberies should call the Police Department by dialing 54-22222 ext 213-214, the anonymous Tip line # 9300 or the emergency line 911.
Student seriously injured during fight.
On Wednesday March 8th at approximately 10.15 a.m., police patrols, paramedics and Detectives were directed to the Sint Maarten Vocational school where a fight among students had taken place and one of the students was seriously wounded. On the scene the investigating officers learnt that a fight had broken out after a heated argument between two students from that school with initials N.O.M (18) and J.D.A. (17). During the fight the suspect N.O.M. used a broken bottle and stabbed the victim J.D.A. in his stomach causing a very serious wound. After committing this act the suspect fled the scene. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and taken to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for medical attention. At the hospital the victim was immediately taken to the operation room where he had to be operated on. The victim was admitted to hospital for observation. The suspect was arrested and put into custody for further investigation.
