CAP 6th Annual Aviation Security Conference
Cyber threats and its consequences for aviation and the economy
Willemstad – The 6th Annual Curaçao Airport Partners Aviation Security Conference (AVSEC Conference) takes place on May 28th, with presentations by renowned international professionals in the aviation industry. The focus of this years’ conference is cybersecurity and how to protect and safeguard civil aviation against cyber threats. Interested stakeholders can sign-up through Curaçao Airport Partners.
Cybersecurity is a growing concern for civil aviation, as organizations increasingly rely on electronic systems for critical parts of their operations, including safety-critical functions. Cybersecurity entails the protection of electronic systems from malicious electronic attack and how to deal with the consequences of such attacks.
Worldwide attention for cybersecurity in aviation
Acknowledging the urgency and importance of protecting civil aviation’s critical infrastructure, information and communication technology systems and data against cyber threats, the 39th Session of the ICAO Assembly called for a coordinated approach to cybersecurity. Addressing cybersecurity in civil aviation sets out the actions to be undertaken by aviation stakeholders to counter cyber threats to civil aviation through a cross-cutting, horizontal and collaborative approach. To meet these objectives, ICAO established the Secretariat Study Group on Cybersecurity (SSGC) and several related Working Groups, composed of subject matter experts from Member States and industry.
