AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS – Samira Rafaela is a candidate running for the European Parliament listed #3 on the Dutch Party D-66, last days she emphasized a visit on Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire.

Upcoming May 23rd will be the European Parliament Elections, and with her visit, she focused on the importance of having a voice with the island’s interests within the Dutch Kingdom at the European Parliament. All the islands also have rights on the EU-funding to sustain a better policy on the environment, nature protection, welfare of social affairs, education and culture preservation. As citizens with a Dutch passport, consciousness has to be built that they are also European Union citizens and this also brings their specific rights with it.

 

“During my visit, I’ve had several conversations with different persons, dignitaries, media and several organizations that indicated the necessity about knowing more about the European Union and its influence on our people. It is absolutely important to invest in the upcoming years in better awareness regarding the European Union for our citizens.”

If Samira gets elected as a member of the European Parliament, she emphasizes that: “I will procure to return for visibility to the islands and work as an ambassador of the Dutch Caribbean islands in the European Parliament.”

 

“I would also like to thank publicly everybody for their support. I am proud to be part of the new generation of politicians that will work for the generations before us and the new one.”
