POLICE PRESS RELEASE
Shots fired
The Police Detective Department is presently investigating a case which took place on Sunday August 4th at approximately 03.00 p.m. involving a male suspect identified with initials M.E.C. According to the reports fired several gun shots were fired at the home of his father located in the 911 Project in Dutch Quarter. The shooting took place shortly after a heavy discussion between the suspect and his father. After committing this act the suspect fled the scene. Luckily no one was injured during the shooting. The Forensic investigators were on the scene to collect evidence. The reason for this shooting is still under investigation. The suspect has not yet been arrested has not been seen since this incident took place.
Two suspects arrested for theft
Two young men identified with initials A.L. and U.T. were arrested by police on Sunday August 4th after they were caught in the act stealing a scooter from a local garage. Both suspects were taken to the Police Head Quarters in Philipsburg and remain in custody for questioning and further investigation.
Repeat offender arrested
On Monday August 5th a well-known male repeat offender identified with initials D.A. for whom a warrant for his arrest was issued by the public prosecutor was arrested by police. The suspect was arrested suspected of stealing a car. The suspect was taken to the police head quarters and handed over to the detective department for questioning and further investigation. The suspect remains in custody.
Stabbing between siblings
The Juvenile and Morals Department is presently investigating a stabbing between two brothers which took place on Sunday August 5th on the Bush road. The brothers identified with initials A.S. (15) and S.S. (18) were engaged in a heated argument which lead to a physical altercation during which A.S. used a knife to stab his older brother in the abdomen. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center where he was immediately operated on and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for observation. The suspect A.S. was arrested shortly after the incident and was placed into custody for questioning and further investigation. The victim in the meanwhile is in stable condition and was released from the I.C.U. however remains in hospital for treatment. The investigation is ongoing.
