POLICE PRESS RELEASE
Accident with scooter
The traffic department of KPSM is presently investigating a serious traffic accident involving a private vehicle and scooter. The accident took place on Saturday September 14th, about 19.30 on the L.B Scott road in the vicinity of Emilio Wilson Park. According to the report, the male victim was riding on a pink/black scooter with number plate MF-53 on the L.B Scott road from the direction of Saunders towards John cooper/Jose lake sr. Ball park. While overtaking on the bridge by Emilio Wilson park, the driver of the scooter lost control and collided head-on with a private vehicle with license-plate P-6544 coming from the opposite direction. As a result of the collision the rider of the scooter suffered broken leg and fractures bones in his face. He was treated at the scene by the personnel of the ambulance and transported to the SMMC for treatment . The rider at the time of the accident was not wearing a helmet.
Message to all scooter and motorcycle riders The wearing of a helmet while riding a scooter or motorcycle is required by law. The wearing of a helmet is to minimize the severity of head injuries if an accident occurs while operating these vehicles. Because the rider of this scooter was NOT wearing a helmet during this accident, he suffered severe head trauma as a result of the impact. Therefore the Police Department is urging every scooter or motorcycle rider and passenger to wear a helmet when operating these vehicles as required by law.
Burglary at Billy Folly road
The patrol of Simpson bay was directed to the Billy Folly road on the morning of Sunday September 15th 2019 for a burglary. According to the victim, unknown person(s) broke into her home and stole laptops, backpacks and cash. This burglary took place betweenthe hours of 11.00 am and 11.pm on Saturday September 14th 2019. The police is requesting any witnesses of this incident to, call the police department by dialing 54-22222/214 or call the police anonymous tip-line number 9300 to share your information.
