Celebrating the Curaçao Tourist Board’s

30 Years Serving the Island

WILLEMSTAD – September 30, 2019 – On October 1, 2019, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) is celebrating its 30 years serving the island. The CTB’s mission is to market Curaçao as a leisure and business destination thereby assuring sustainable benefits to the island. The CTB’s focus, in collaboration with local and international partners, is to work every day to broaden the island’s presence in all major markets as well as new and emerging ones.

A Look Back

Back in 1915, the Curaçao Association was founded with the objective of promoting the island abroad. Later, this responsibility was passed on to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. From 1945 to 1948, an appointed representative in New York would report to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on developments abroad which had a bearing on tourism in Curaçao. After the Government of Curaçao relieved the Chamber of Commerce and Industry from its tourism-promotion duties, the Curaçao Tourism Commission (CTC) was founded. In 1955, the CTC was in turn replaced by the Curaçao Tourist Bureau, which opened offices in Caracas, Venezuela in 1982, and Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in 1984. The Curaçao Tourism Development Foundation (CTDF) was founded in 1989, and as of 2003 continued under the name Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB). Currently, the CTB has offices not only

in Curaçao, but also in the United States and the Netherlands, as well as representatives in Colombia, Brazil and Germany.

Future Plans

Curaçao’s many attractive attributes, including our beaches, rich culture and friendly people, allow us to offer a diverse and interesting product to our visitors. As the leader in tourism on Curaçao, the CTB will continue to have a forward-looking approach. Making good use of innovative ideas and analyzing each opportunity that arises, for the benefit of our “dushi” Curaçao. The CTB wishes to thank all its partners in the tourism industry and the community as a whole for their support throughout the years. Together we will continue working towards more sustainable growth for our country.
