Minister McWilliam joins CPA at the annual FCCA Cruise Conference

The Minister of Economic Development, Mrs. Giselle Mc William, joined the management and the president of the board of the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) at the 26th annual cruise conference and trade show of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) that took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico last week. During the visit Minister McWilliam and the CPA delegation met with several ministers of the Caribbean and Latin American region to discuss the latest cruise developments. The delegation had several fruitful meetings with cruise executives from Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean Ltd. and Norwegian Cruise Lines among others.

 

These meetings were vital to ensure the continued growth of the cruise sector in Curaçao.

 Curaçao continues to score high and can be considered a marquee destination within the Caribbean region. The completion of the construction of the Tula pier in November of 2017 provides the Island with additional mooring capacity and enables Curaçao to receive the largest vessels in the industry.  

CPA and the government of Curaçao are currently committed to proceed with the development of the upland facilities at the cruise terminal area in order to enhance Curaçao as a marquee cruise destination and further grow the cruise business on the island.

Minister Mc William met CPA op de jaarlijkse FCCA Cruise Conference

Minister Giselle Mc William van Economische Ontwikkeling heeft met het management en president-commissaris van de Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) deelgenomen aan de 26e jaarlijkse cruiseconferentie en beurs van de Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) die vorige week plaatsvond in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Tijdens het bezoek hebben minister Mc William en de CPA-delegatie ontmoetingen gehad met diverse ministers van de Caribische en Latijns-Amerikaanse regio om de nieuwste cruiseontwikkelingen te bespreken. De delegatie had verschillende vruchtbare vergaderingen onder andere met hoge functionarissen van Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean Ltd. en Norwegian Cruise Lines.
Deze bijeenkomsten waren van vitaal belang om te waarborgen dat de groei van de cruisesector op Curaçao aanhoudt.
Curaçao blijft hoog scoren en geldt als een topbestemming in het Caribisch gebied. De voltooiing van de bouw van de Tula-pier in november 2017 biedt het eiland extra afmeercapaciteit en stelt Curaçao in staat de grootste schepen in de branche te ontvangen.
CPA en de regering van Curaçao zijn vastbesloten door te gaan met de ontwikkeling van de faciliteiten op land in het cruiseterminalgebied om Curaçao verder te verbeteren als top cruise-bestemming en opdat de cruiseactiviteiten op het eiland verder toenemen.
