Traffic control

 In carrying out the end of the year safety plan, the police of Sint.Maarten have started with traffic controls in connection with its end of the year activities. The first of these controls was held on Wednesday December 4th 2019.   A combine control was done together with the personnel of the customs department in different location.   The controls were based technical requirements for vehicles make use of the public road. Specific attention was given to drivers with tinted windows, for not having their road tax paid or number plates attached to their cars the teams also checked for drugs and firearms. 

A total of 107 vehicles was controlled, 40 drivers were requested to remover their tint, 3 fines were given and 1 car was towed away. And a small amount of narcotics was confiscated by the control team. These types of controls will be held more frequently in this period. The police force is asking the drivers to have all their documents for the vehicle with them when driving on public roads and remember to adhere to the traffic rules.

Death of colleague Cernick Jan Lionel Carolina

With great sorrow the police force of Sint.Maarten  would like to informed public of Sint Maarten of the death of our  esteemed colleague Major Cernick Jan Lionel Carolina after a long illness. Mr. C.J L Carolina , died on Saturday, November 30, 2019 in the hospital in Colombia in the presence of his family at the age of 50.

There are no words to express our sorrows for this loss of our colleague. Our thoughts and prayers  are with his family and friends of the deceased, and not forgetting his “family in blue”.

In Major C .J.L. Carolina  the police force of Sint Maarten  lost a very valued and enthusiastic colleague who carried out his work in the various departments with great pleasure and dedication. Our prayers are with  his family and friend and the members of the police Force.
