Nieuwe horizonten voor 2023-2025

 

Willemstad, 15 november 2023 – Een historische wending in internationaal overleg is bereikt nu de Sociaal-Economische Raad (SER) van Curaçao het prestigieuze voorzitterschap van de Internationale Vereniging van Economische en Sociale Raden en Soortgelijke Instellingen (AICESIS) op zich heeft genomen, met ingang van 1 november 2023. Deze benoeming, die van kracht blijft tot 31 oktober 2025, symboliseert een significant keerpunt voor de SER en markeert een mijlpaal voor de regio Latijns-Amerika en de Caraïben.

 

Deze overdracht van het voorzitterschap, in overeenstemming met artikel 8, lid 1, van het AICESIS-handvest, illustreert de rotatie van deze cruciale rol tussen verschillende geografische gebieden, zoals uiteengezet in artikel 7, lid 3. De benoeming van de SER van Curaçao, bevestigd tijdens de Algemene Vergadering van AICESIS die op 1 november 2023 werd gehouden in Moskou, onderstreept het vertrouwen en de erkenning die de leden van deze eerbiedwaardige associatie in de SER hebben.

 

In haar nieuwe rol als voorzitter heeft de SER Curaçao een ambitieus Roadmap Presidency 2023-2025 CUR, gericht op het stimuleren van ‘brede en inclusieve welvaart’. Dit vooruitstrevende plan is nauw afgestemd op de duurzame ontwikkelingsdoelen van de Verenigde Naties (VN) en onderstreept de noodzaak van een gedecentraliseerde aanpak. Deze benadering houdt rekening met de unieke uitdagingen en kansen binnen de vier geografische regio’s van AICESIS.

 

Een gedetailleerde visuele presentatie van het stappenplan is reeds geïntroduceerd aan de Algemene Vergadering en het Bestuur van AICESIS, waarin de strategische doelstellingen en actieplannen voor de komende twee jaar zorgvuldig zijn uitgewerkt. Hiermee bevestigt de SER Curaçao haar vastberadenheid om een wezenlijke bijdrage te leveren aan de geïnstitutionaliseerde sociaal dialoog, advisering en versterking van participatieve democratie op wereldniveau.

 

Verder zal de SER Curaçao in zijn rol als voorzitter fungeren als de verenigende stem in internationale platforms, waaronder de Internationale Arbeidsorganisatie (ILO) en de Economische en Sociale Raad van de Verenigde Naties (ECOSOC). Hierbij zal hij ervoor zorgen dat de visies en inzichten van de AICESIS-leden worden meegenomen en vertegenwoordigd in mondiale discussies.

Willemstad, Nov. 15, 2023 – In a landmark development for global economic and social dialogue, the Social and Economic Council (SER) of Curaçao has taken the helm of the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) as its president, effective Nov. 1, 2023. This tenure, extending until Oct. 31, 2025, represents a pivotal juncture for SER and a significant achievement for the Latin America and Caribbean region.

 

The transition to this leadership role, guided by Article 8(1) of the AICESIS Charter, reflects the rotational nature of this pivotal position across diverse geographic regions, as stipulated in Article 7(3). The Curaçao ESC’s ascension to presidency, ratified at the AICESIS General Assembly in Moscow on November 1, 2023, signifies the trust and esteem bestowed upon the ESC by fellow association members.

 

Embarking on its presidency, SER Curaçao has unveiled an ambitious “Roadmap Presidency 2023-2025 CUR” dedicated to fostering broad, inclusive prosperity. This forward-thinking strategy is intricately aligned with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing the necessity for a tailored, decentralized approach. This strategy acknowledges the distinct challenges and prospects unique to AICESIS’s four geographic regions.

 

A comprehensive visual blueprint of this roadmap was presented to the AICESIS General Assembly and Board, meticulously outlining strategic objectives and action plans for the ensuing two years. Through this initiative, the Curaçao ESC reaffirms its commitment to enhancing global institutionalized social dialogue, consultation, and the fortification of participatory democracy.

 

In addition, as president, SER Curaçao will act as a cohesive voice on international stages, including the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
