FOKO: Queer Poëzieavond in Gaze Bar
WILLEMDSTAD – Op dinsdag 30 april organiseert Fundashon Orguyo Kòrsou een
Queer Poëzieavond, als onderdeel van het project “Arcoiris de Apoyo Curazao”. Het
thema van deze poëzieavond is “Alien”. Hierbij staan de deelnemers stil bij de manier
waarop zij zich anders voelen dan de rest. Dit kan gaan over allerlei thema’s: zo kun je
je anders voelen vanwege je seksuele geaardheid, je nationaliteit of je zelfexpressie.
Deelnemers kunnen zich uiten over hun gevoelens over dit ‘anders zijn’, over de manier
waarop ze ermee omgaan, of over hoe zij zich juist níet anders voelen.
Het evenement zal bestaan uit een korte schrijfworkshop en een open mic. De
workshop zal worden geleid door de Venezolaanse schrijver Jaime Peña en zal in het
Spaans zijn. Tijdens het open mic deel zijn alle talen welkom. Het evenement vindt
plaats bij Gaze Bar (Kaya A.M. “Shon Toni” Prince 16, Willemstad) tussen 19 en 21 uur.

De poëzieavond is onderdeel van een reeks community sessies binnen het project
Arcoiris de Apoyo Curazao. Dit project, gesponsord door de Pan American
Development Foundation (PADF), richt zich op het ondersteunen en het empoweren
van seksueel diverse personen, specifiek migranten, op Curaçao. Naast het bezoeken
van community sessies, kunnen LGBTQ+ personen ook bij Foko terecht voor
counseling, waarvoor er een nieuw centrum is geopend in Punda (Wolkstraat 7D). Meer

FOKO: Queer Poetry Night in Gaze Bar
WILLEMSTAD – On Tuesday, April 30, Fundashon Orguyo Kòrsou is organizing a Queer
Poetry Evening, as part of the project “Arcoiris de Apoyo Curazao”. The theme of this
poetry evening is “Alien”. The participants reflect on the way in which they feel different
from the rest. This can be about all kinds of themes: you can feel different because of
your sexual orientation, your nationality or your self-expression. Participants can
express their feelings about this ‘being different’, about the way they deal with it, or
about how they do not feel different.
The event will consist of a small writing workshop and an open mic. The workshop will
be led by Venezuelan writer Jaime Peña and will be in Spanish. The event will take
place at Gaze Bar (Kaya A.M. “Shon Toni” Prince 16, Willemstad) between 7pm and

FOKO: Noche de poesía queer en Gaze Bar
WILLEMSTAD – El martes 30 de abril, Fundashon Orguyo Kòrsou organiza una Velada
de Poesía Queer, como parte del proyecto “Arcoiris de Apoyo Curazao”. El tema de
esta velada de poesía es “alienígena”. Los participantes reflexionan sobre la forma en
la que se sienten diferentes al resto. Puede tratarse de todo tipo de temas: puedes
sentirte diferente por tu orientación sexual, tu nacionalidad o tu autoexpresión. Los
participantes pueden expresar sus sentimientos sobre este “ser diferente”, sobre la
forma en que lo afrontan o sobre cómo no se sienten diferentes.
El evento consta de un microtaller de poesía y micrófono abierto. El taller será
impartido por el escritor venezolano Jaime Peña y será en español. El evento tendrá
lugar en Gaze Bar (Kaya A.M. “Shon Toni” Prince 16) entre las 7 p.m. y las 9 p.m. La
