Willemstad 16 mei, 2024- In het kader van het aanpakken van klimaatverandering en het beschermen van het ecosysteem op Curaçao, wat een EU-prioriteit is, organiseert Europe Direct Curaçao in samenwerking met Green Phenix op 1 juni 2024 een Beach Clean-Up om bij te dragen aan een schoner en duurzamer Curaçao.
De noordkust van het eiland heeft te maken met een grote hoeveelheid plastic die aanspoelt vanuit de Caribische zee. Naarmate dit plastic wordt blootgesteld aan het UV-licht van de zon, fragmenteert het tot microplastics, heel kleine stukjes plastic die schadelijk zijn voor de natuur en de mens en moeilijk kunnen worden opgeruimd. Het is daarom belangrijk dat het aangespoelde plastic zo snel mogelijk wordt weggehaald, voordat het in kleine stukjes breekt. Daarom is deze beach clean-up erg nodig en belangrijk.
Europe Direct Curaçao & Green Phenix hebben uw hulp nodig om dit tot een succes te maken. Daarom nodigt Europe Direct Curaçao & Green Phenix u uit om mee te doen met de Beach Clean-Up. De Beach Clean-Up vindt plaats op zaterdag 1 juni van 08:00 uur tot 10:00 uur op de Vlakte van San Pedro.

Registration Open: Join the Beach Clean-Up by Europe Direct Curaçao & Green Phenix!
Willemstad, May 16, 2024 – In the context of addressing climate change and protecting the ecosystem in Curaçao, which is a priority for the EU, Europe Direct Curaçao, in collaboration with Green Phenix, is organizing a Beach Clean-Up on June 1, 2024, to contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable Curaçao.
The northern coast of the island faces a significant amount of plastic washing ashore from the Caribbean Sea. As this plastic is exposed to the UV light of the sun, it breaks down into microplastics, tiny pieces harmful to both nature and humans and difficult to clean up. Therefore, it is crucial to remove the washed-up plastic as soon as possible before it fragments into smaller pieces. Hence, this beach clean-up is much needed and important.
Europe Direct Curaçao & Green Phenix need your help to make this a success and therefore, invite you to participate in the Beach Clean-Up. The Beach Clean-Up will take place on Saturday, June 1, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Vlakte van San Pedro.
