Investigation into Male Found Deceased in Dutch Quarter
The Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) continues to investigate the incident in which a male, approximately 60 years old, was found lying in the middle of the road near the entrance of Garden of Eden in Dutch Quarter on the evening of Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Just before 9:00 PM, the Police Central Dispatch received multiple calls reporting a person down in the roadway. Upon arrival, patrol officers found an unresponsive male on the ground. Shortly thereafter, paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed that the victim had passed away.
Further investigation has since revealed that the victim succumbed to stab wounds sustained during an altercation. Detectives received information regarding a person of interest who may have been involved in this incident. This individual was later located and arrested in connection with an outstanding warrant for a separate criminal offense committed some time ago.
The suspect has been taken into police custody and is currently being questioned regarding both cases.

Onderzoek naar man overleden aangetroffen in Dutch Quarter
Het Korps Politie Sint Maarten (KPSM) doet verder onderzoek naar het incident waarbij op donderdagavond 6 februari 2025 een man, ongeveer 60 jaar oud, midden op de weg bij de ingang van Garden of Eden in Dutch Quarter werd aangetroffen.
Vlak voor 21.00 uur ontving de Centrale Meldkamer van de Politie meerdere telefoontjes waarin werd gemeld dat er een persoon op de rijbaan lag. Bij aankomst troffen politieagenten een bewusteloze man op de grond aan. Kort daarna kwamen ambulancepersoneel ter plaatse en bevestigden dat het slachtoffer was overleden.
Nader onderzoek heeft inmiddels uitgewezen dat het slachtoffer is bezweken aan steekwonden, opgelopen tijdens een woordenwisseling. Rechercheurs kregen informatie over een persoon van belang die mogelijk bij dit incident betrokken was. Deze persoon is later opgespoord en gearresteerd in verband met een uitstaand arrestatiebevel voor een afzonderlijk strafbaar feit dat enige tijd geleden is gepleegd.
De verdachte is in hechtenis genomen en wordt momenteel in beide gevallen verhoord.
De autoriteiten dringen er bij iedereen met aanvullende informatie over dit incident op aan om contact op te nemen met de politie van Sint Maarten via de noodlijn 911, de anonieme tiplijn 9300, of om het dichtstbijzijnde politiebureau te bezoeken.
