Parliament of Sint Maarten

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the Hon. President of Parliament, Mrs. Sarah A. Wescot-Williams, and the Hon. Member of Parliament, Ms. Ludmila N.L. de Weever, Chairperson of the Committee of Country’s Expenditures (CLU) of Parliament, met with the Chairman Mr. Alphons Gumbs and the Board of the General Audit Chamber. The meeting followed a letter from the President of Parliament dated January 16, 2026, expressing the intention to strengthen the functioning of the CLU Committee and to work on ensuring that the reports of the General Audit Chamber are properly addressed by both Parliament and the Government.
The Board of the General Audit Chamber, together with the President of Parliament and the Chairperson of the CLU Committee, agreed on the way forward regarding the open and closed nature of meetings with the Audit Chamber. It was further agreed that the Committee will work on identifying and prioritizing reports for further deliberation with the Chamber, as well as utilizing the Progress Meter introduced by the Chamber.
