Sint Maarten delegation participates in Tripartite Consultation between Parliaments of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten
On Monday, February 23, 2026, delegations of the Parliaments of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten met in Tripartite Consultation at the Parliament of Aruba in Oranjestad.
The delegations discussed the furtherance of the draft Kingdom Law Dispute Regulation, which was submitted for handling on behalf of the three Parliaments through the Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba. The Parliaments are currently awaiting the advice of the Council of State as part of the legislative trajectory.
Delegations also received a presentation on several agriculture initiatives taking place in Aruba under the theme of food security. In addition, the Aruban Airport Authority delivered a presentation, followed by a discussion on flight tariffs and connectivity between the Dutch Caribbean islands. The delegations addressed ongoing efforts to reduce inter-island travel costs and emphasized the need for closer collaboration between airports and governments to improve affordability and accessibility.
In the afternoon, discussions continued on the Ministerial Cooperation Arrangement between Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten. The delegations also exchanged views on education policies, particularly the approaches taken by each country to encourage students to return upon completion of their studies abroad, in line with the motion presented by former Member of the Second Chamber of the Netherlands, Mr. R. White.
The delegations also discussed regional cooperation on the topic of aging, as well as the functioning of the Tripartite Consultation platform.
The next Tripartite Consultation is scheduled to take place virtually in April.S
