Sint Maarten Delegation attends Aruba Day Celebrations
From March 16 to March 18, 2026, a delegation from the Parliament of Sint Maarten, consisting of the Hon. President of Parliament, Mrs. Sarah A. Wescot-Williams, and the Hon. Members of Parliament, Mr. Franklin A. Meyers, Mr. Francisco A. Lacroes and Mr. Egbert J. Doran attended several ceremonies and events surrounding the celebration of Aruba’s 40th anniversary of Status Aparte within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the 50th anniversary of Aruba’s Flag and Anthem Day on Aruba.
The ceremonies and events included a Protocol Ceremony on March 16, 2026, at the Monument Plaza March 18, commemorating the petition of 1948 signed by 2,147 Arubans expressing their desire for greater political autonomy. The delegation also attended a Cultural Manifestation at the Carnival Village in San Nicolas on March 17, 2026.
Additionally, on March 18, the delegation attended a Solemn Public meeting of the Parliament of Aruba at 6:30 hrs., followed by the Protocol Act in front of the Government Building in Oranjestad. The program included speeches by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and the Prime Minister of Aruba, Mr. Mike Eman, as well as a cultural program.
The delegation also took a group picture with all dignitaries representing Sint Maarten at the Protocol Act, including His Excellency Governor Ajamu G. Baly and the Hon. Minister of Justice, Ms. Nathalie M. Tackling.
