Curaçao heeft er een nieuw museum bij: het Curaçao Interactive Experience Museum (CIE). Naast een vaste interactieve tentoonstelling over de geschiedenis, natuur en cultuur van het eiland presenteert het museum een doorlopend programma met wisselende hedendaagse kunsttentoonstellingen die inhoudelijk aansluiten bij de thema’s van de permanente collectie.
Op zaterdag 4 april om 20.00 uur opent de tweede tijdelijke tentoonstelling, met werk van beeldend kunstenaar Marcel van Duijneveldt.
In deze nieuwe presentatie neemt Van Duijneveldt bezoekers mee op een verrassende reis naar een mogelijke toekomst van Curaçao. Met behulp van digitale technieken en beeldbewerking ontwikkelde hij een fictief metronetwerk voor het eiland: een ondergrondse kaart met stations, routes en verbindingen die bekende plekken op Curaçao op een geheel nieuwe manier met elkaar verbinden.
Maar is dit slechts verbeelding? Of doen avant-garde kunstenaars soms precies dat waarvoor zij bekendstaan: vooruitkijken en zichtbaar maken wat later werkelijkheid kan worden?
Met deze tentoonstelling nodigt Van Duijneveldt bezoekers uit om anders te kijken naar mobiliteit, infrastructuur en de toekomst van Curaçao — en om zich een eiland voor te stellen waarin nieuwe verbindingen nieuwe mogelijkheden openen.
De opening vindt plaats op zaterdag 4 april om 20.00 uur.
De toegang is gratis.

Curaçao welcomes a new museum: the Curaçao Interactive Experience opens its second temporary art exhibition featuring work by Marcel van Duijneveldt
Curaçao has gained a brand-new museum: the Curaçao Interactive Experience (CIE). Alongside its permanent interactive exhibition exploring the island’s history, nature, and culture, the museum presents a rotating program of contemporary art exhibitions that connect directly to the themes of the permanent collection.
On Saturday, April 4 at 8:00 PM, the museum opens its second temporary exhibition, featuring work by visual artist Marcel van Duijneveldt.
In this new presentation, Van Duijneveldt invites visitors on a surprising journey into a possible future of Curaçao. Using digital techniques and AI-supported image-making, he has created a fictional underground metro network for the island: a detailed system of routes and stations linking recognizable locations across Curaçao in an entirely new way.
Is this simply imagination? Or is this what avant-garde artists sometimes do best—offering a vision of what may soon become reality?
With this exhibition, Van Duijneveldt encourages visitors to rethink mobility, connection, and the future of Curaçao—and to imagine an island where new routes open new possibilities.
The opening takes place on Saturday, April 4 at 8:00 PM.
