On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Parliament held a Public Meeting with the Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI), Mr. Patrice Gumbs Jr., to address several key concerns related to the Ministry of VROMI.
During the meeting, the Minister gave a presentation on the current state of garbage collection, the solid waste tender process, and proposed short- and long-term solutions for waste management in Sint Maarten.
After the presentation by the Minister, Members of Parliament were given the opportunity to pose their questions to the Minister in the first round. A motion of no confidence in the Minister of VROMI was presented by MP Lyndon C.J. Lewis.
The meeting was subsequently adjourned to allow the Minister of VROMI, time to prepare responses to the questions posed in the first round.
