Parliament of Sint Maarten On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the Members of Parliament sat in Urgent Public Meeting no. 15 with the Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor, Mr. Richinel S.J. Brug, to discuss the state of affairs of the St. Maarten General Hospital and integrity-related allegations within the Ministry of VSA.

During agenda point 2 of this meeting the Minister gave a presentation on the current state of the St. Maarten General Hospital, after which Members of Parliament were given the opportunity to pose questions in round 1 in accordance with the speaker’s list. The agenda point was then adjourned to allow the Minister time to prepare the answers to the questions posed.

Subsequently, the meeting was to be adjourned entirely until further notice, however Member of Parliament, Mr. Ardwell M.R. Irion, by a proposal of order, proposed to continue the meeting with agenda point 3 to deliberate on the recent integrity-related allegations within the Ministry, including the request for an investigation by the Integrity Chamber. The proposal was put to a vote and was rejected with six (6) votes in favor and seven (7) votes against. As a result, the Urgent Public Meeting no. 15 was adjourned until further notice.
