A delegation from St. Eustatius (Statia) is attending the 40th Annual Governor’s Hurricane Conference from 10 to 15 May 2026 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The delegation is led by Crisis Manager Andre Bennett and includes Deputy Island Governor Sharon Hassell, Island Secretary and Crisis Coordinator Malvern Dijkshoorn-Lopes, and members of the Emergency Support Functions (ESF), which cover key emergency response areas ranging from police, fire and rescue services, public health, communications to public works and logistics.

The conference supports continued training, knowledge building, and networking in disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. It also provides access to current disaster response tools, equipment, and best practices that can help strengthen Island crisis readiness.

The Statia Government remains committed to investing in preparedness and building the capacity needed to protect the people of Statia during times of crisis.
