Arajet Receives Its 16th Aircraft “Pico Diego de Ocampo” and Advances Regional Expansion

The airline strengthens the country’s air connectivity and plans to launch regular operations from Cibao International Airport in 2027

Santiago, Dominican Republic. – Arajet, the Dominican flagship airline, received its 16th aircraft, named “Pico Diego de Ocampo,” at Cibao International Airport as part of its ongoing expansion process and efforts to strengthen the Dominican Republic’s air connectivity with the Americas. The airline also announced plans to begin operating flights to and from Santiago starting in 2027.

The new aircraft pays tribute to the Pico Diego de Ocampo Natural Monument, one of the most important protected areas in the northern region of the country, located between the provinces of Santiago and Puerto Plata. Considered one of the most emblematic elevations of the Northern Mountain Range, the area is known for its ecological richness and its vital role in preserving water sources, biodiversity, and climate regulation in the region.

With this addition, Arajet reaffirms its commitment to promoting and showcasing the Dominican Republic’s natural treasures through a fleet inspired by the country’s most important environmental and cultural symbols.

The aircraft reception ceremony was led by José Clase, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cibao International Airport, along with board members Ricardo Fondeur and Juan Ureña.

Manuel Luna, Arajet’s Chief Communications Officer, highlighted that the arrival of the new aircraft represents an important milestone within the company’s sustainable growth strategy and the strengthening of national air connectivity.

“With the incorporation of our 16th aircraft, we continue expanding our fleet capacity to further connect the Dominican Republic with more destinations across the Americas. In addition, with the arrival of nine more aircraft between this year and next, we project the start of regular operations from Cibao International Airport in 2027, further strengthening connectivity in the northern region and generating new opportunities for tourism and trade,” said Luna.

The arrival of the “Pico Diego de Ocampo” aircraft will allow Arajet to continue strengthening its operations and respond to growing passenger demand, contributing to consolidating the Dominican Republic as the Caribbean’s leading air hub and one of the region’s most dynamic tourism destinations.
