Fire Department Caribbean Netherlands supports Saba SAR foundation with vehicle transfer – Brandweerkorps Caribisch Nederland steunt Saba SAR stichting met overdracht van voertuig

The Fire Department Caribbean Netherlands (Brandweerkorps Caribisch Nederland) has officially donated a Ford Ranger pickup truck to the Saba Search and Rescue (SAR) Foundation, thereby strengthening the organization’s capacity in support of emergency response and rescue operations on the island.

The official handover took place at the fire station in The Bottom, where local fire chief Julio Every presented the vehicle keys to SAR skipper and coordinator Nicholas Johnson.

Prior to the transfer, all official fire department markings, emergency striping, numbering, light bars, and related equipment were removed in preparation for the vehicle’s new role to the SAR fleet.

Hans Schreuder, ‘Director of the Saba Statia Search and Rescue Foundation’, welcomed the donation and noted that the vehicle will be repainted in SAR colors and undergo any necessary maintenance before being placed into operational service.

The Fire Department Caribbean Netherlands expressed confidence that the truck will be put to good use, thereby strengthening Saba’s maritime search-and-rescue capabilities and further supporting emergency response for the local community.

Brandweerkorps Caribisch Nederland steunt Saba SAR stichting met overdracht van voertuig

Het Brandweerkorps Caribisch Nederland heeft officieel een Ford Ranger pick-uptruck gedoneerd aan de Saba Search and Rescue Foundation. Hiermee wordt de capaciteit van de organisatie versterkt ter ondersteuning van noodhulp- en reddingsoperaties op het eiland Saba.

De officiële overdracht vond plaats bij de brandweerkazerne in The Bottom, waar de lokale brandweercommandant Julio Every de sleutels van het voertuig overhandigde aan SAR-schipper en coördinator Nicholas Johnson.

Voorafgaand aan de overdracht zijn alle officiële brandweermarkeringen, noodstriping, nummering, lichtbalken en bijbehorende apparatuur verwijderd, ter voorbereiding op de nieuwe rol van het voertuig binnen het SAR-wagenpark.

Hans Schreuder, directeur van de ‘Saba Statia Search and Rescue Foundation’, sprak zijn waardering uit voor de donatie en gaf aan dat het voertuig opnieuw in de SAR-kleuren zal worden overgespoten en waar nodig onderhoud zal ondergaan voordat het operationele dienst in gebruik wordt genomen.

Het Brandweerkorps Caribisch Nederland heeft er alle vertrouwen in dat de pick-up goed gebruikt zal worden, hiermee worden de maritieme zoek- en reddingscapaciteiten van Saba versterkt en de noodhulpverlening aan de lokale gemeenschap verder ondersteund.
