FRACTIE PNP WENST EEN KWALITATIEF EN VEILIG NIEUW SCHOOLJAAR

WILLEMSTAD, CURAÇAO – 20 augustus 2026 — De fractie van de Partido Nashonal di Pueblo (PNP) wenst de gehele bevolking van Curaçao, in het bijzonder onze studenten, ouders en alle onderwijsmedewerkers, een schooljaar 2026-2027 toe vol succes, vooruitgang en zegen. Het onderwijs is het fundament waarop wij onze natie bouwen, en deze week beginnen we allemaal met nieuwe energie.

Als partij geloven wij stellig in de veerkracht van onze mensen. Daarom hebben wij een speciale boodschap:

Voor onze docenten en het schoolpersoneel: ‘Wij zijn dankbaar dat er ook in dit nieuwe schooljaar achter elk kind een docent, een maatschappelijk werker, een buschauffeur en personeel staat dat tijd, geduld en hart inzet. Bedankt dat jullie onze kinderen niet alleen onderwijzen, maar ook in hen geloven wanneer ze zelf twijfelen. Jullie vormen de eerste verdedigingslinie voor het mentale en emotionele welzijn van onze kinderen en jongeren. Moge God jullie de kracht en het geduld geven voor weer een jaar vol zegen. Jullie planten de zaden van onze toekomst.‘

Aan alle ouders en onze hele gemeenschap: ‘Zoals het gezegde luidt: “It takes a village to raise a child”. We weten dat deze tijd praktische en financiële uitdagingen met zich meebrengt, zeker met de huidige kosten van levensonderhoud. De PNP-fractie blijft pleiten voor reële en directe oplossingen om deze lasten te verlichten. Maar vandaag vragen wij heel Curaçao om de steunpilaar voor onze jongeren te zijn. Laten we samenwerken om te garanderen dat elk kind gelijke kansen krijgt om te schitteren in een veilige en liefdevolle omgeving, zowel thuis als in de wijk.’

Aan onze kinderen en jongeren: ‘Ga met moed en leergierigheid naar school. Jullie zijn onze toekomstige leiders, onze vernieuwers en de kracht die Curaçao vooruit zal brengen. Laat geen enkel obstakel jullie ervan weerhouden om groot te dromen. Jullie opleiding is de sleutel tot jullie eigen vooruitgang.’

Als jullie vertegenwoordigers in het Parlement belooft de PNP-fractie dit schooljaar onze filosofie van ‘Controleren, Voorstellen en Verbeteren’ (Kontrolá, Proponé i Mehorá) na te komen met meer praktische acties voor dit jaar:

1. Wij zullen ervoor zorgen dat de ‘Initiatieflandsverordening Stagevergoeding’ (het wetsinitiatief Mercelina van de PNP) wordt afgerond en aangenomen. Onze studenten hebben recht op een eerlijke en gegarandeerde vergoeding voor hun werk en inzet tijdens hun stage.
2. Wij blijven maatregelen eisen en voorstellen om de hoge kosten van levensonderhoud voor ons onderwijspersoneel te verlichten, en wij pleiten voor betaalbaar schoolmateriaal en effectief openbaar vervoer voor onze studenten.
3. Wij zullen de Regering verantwoordelijk houden voor het verbeteren van de infrastructuur en kwaliteit van onze scholen en effectievere klaslokalen, en garanderen veilige routes voor onze kinderen. Een leeromgeving op Curaçao moet kwalitatief, veilig en schoon zijn.
4. Wij blijven pleiten voor meer capaciteit voor maatschappelijk werkers en mentale begeleiding op scholen, om zowel de docent in zijn werk te ondersteunen als de mentale gezondheid van de leerling te beschermen.

Laten we van dit schooljaar een jaar maken waarin we elkaar steunen, elkaar verheffen en het welzijn van onze kinderen op de eerste plaats zetten. PNP FACTION WISHES FOR A HIGH-QUALITY AND SAFE NEW SCHOOL YEAR 

WILLEMSTAD, CURAÇAO – August 20, 2026 — The faction of the Partido Nashonal di Pueblo (PNP) wishes the entire population of Curaçao, in particular our students, parents, and all education workers, a 2026-2027 school year filled with success, progress, and blessings. Education is the foundation upon which we build our nation, and this week we all start with renewed energy.

As a party, we firmly believe in the resilience of our people. That is why we have a special message:

To our teachers and school staff: ‘We are grateful that in this new school year, behind every child, there is a teacher, a social worker, a bus driver, and staff members who dedicate their time, patience, and heart. Thank you for not only teaching our children but also believing in them when they doubt themselves. You are the first line of defense for the mental and emotional well-being of our children and youth. May God grant you strength and patience for another year of many blessings. You are planting the seeds of our future.‘

To all parents and our entire community: ‘As the saying goes: “It takes a village to raise a child”. We know this period brings practical and financial challenges, especially with the current cost of living. The PNP Faction continues to advocate for real and direct solutions to ease this burden. But today, we ask all of Curaçao to be the pillar of support for our youth. Let us work together to guarantee that every child has an equal opportunity to shine in a safe and loving environment at home and in their neighborhood.’

As your representatives in Parliament, the PNP Faction promises to deliver this school year by continuing to apply our philosophy of ‘Control, Propose, and Improve’ (Kontrolá, Proponé i Mehorá) with more practical actions for this year:

1. We will ensure the finalization and passage of the ‘Draft Initiative National Ordinance on Internship Allowances’ (the Mercelina PNP initiative law). Our students need fair and guaranteed compensation for their work and effort during their internships.
2. We will continue to demand and propose measures to alleviate the cost-of-living burden for our education personnel, advocating for affordable school supplies and effective public transportation for our students.
3. We will hold the Government accountable for repairing the infrastructure and improving the quality of our schools and classrooms more effectively, ensuring safe routes for our children. A learning environment in Curaçao must be of high quality, safe, and clean.
4. We will continue to advocate for increased capacity of social workers and mental guidance in schools, to assist teachers in their work as well as protect the mental health of the students.
