KPSM Conducts Road Cleaning Action on Sucker Garden Road
The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM), through its Traffic Department, together with several local businesses and other stakeholders, carried out a road cleaning action on Saturday, September 5, 2026, on Sucker Garden Road.
The action was aimed at removing a large amount of hardened concrete that had accumulated on the roadway over the past weeks and months. The concrete had created a serious potential hazard for road users, particularly scooter and motorcycle riders, and increased the risk of accidents.
To allow the cleanup to be carried out safely, a section of Sucker Garden Road was temporarily closed during the morning hours. Workers were then able to remove the concrete and clear the roadway of the accumulated material.
KPSM would like to use this opportunity to remind contractors, businesses, and other persons carrying out construction or related activities that materials, concrete, debris, and other substances must not be allowed to accumulate on public roadways or create hazards for other road users. Keeping roads clear and safe is a shared responsibility and requires the cooperation of everyone.
KPSM sincerely thanks all the businesses, organizations, workers, and individuals who contributed to Saturday’s cleanup. Their cooperation demonstrates the importance of working together to improve road safety on Sint Maarten.
KPSM also extends its appreciation to the general public for their patience and cooperation during the temporary closure of Sucker Garden Road.
As part of continued efforts to address road hazards, a similar cleanup of accumulated concrete and other roadway debris is expected to take place in the Oyster Pond area in the near future.
KPSM urges all road users to remain alert, exercise caution, and report hazardous conditions on public roads whenever they are observed.
