Stop using aluminum foil to cook food

Most of us use aluminum foil paper to cover food and cook it in the oven as a faster easier way to prepare dinners and light meals and aluminum as a metal is the most popular cookware material used by people around the world, pots and pans are lined with it and it is found in kitchen utensils like large serving spoons, in soda cans, in antacids, aspirin, vaccines, and even flour and it’s been widely used because it is cheaper to mass produce and easier to clean.
The World Health Organization says that a daily intake of 40mg of aluminum per kilogram of body weight is considered safe, unfortunately humans are being exposed to more than this amount, almost everything that is being used contains aluminum whether it is food or water or instruments.
So, what is safe and what’s not? research showed that foods cooked in acidic liquid solutions such as lemon juice or tomato sauce in aluminum pans and in foil could contain over six times the amount considered safe, for example with one portion of cooked meat in foil it might contain up to 400mg of aluminum.
People with kidney problems may have difficulty removing excess aluminum from their bodies, so it builds up over time, and studies show that toxic metals contribute to brain diseases like Alzheimer and Parkinson , so it is not a safe option to cook or bake with aluminum foil because this metal will contaminate the food and affect the brain function causing memory loss , nerve system disorder , another study shows that the aluminum present in antacids causes calcium loss and prevent the absorption of fluoride and contributes to bone loss.
Should we worry? Of course it is crucial to protect our body from harm and seek for alternative aluminum free solutions, bake food in heatproof glass or porcelain cookware, only use aluminum foil to store cold food for short periods of time, and no, foil is not suitable for cooking or baking or heating up food, avoid it in any way for a healthier life . © Reinshe 2017
