From: Chief Inspector R.V. HENSON

                        POLICE PRESS RELEASE

Traffic congestion relief on the C.A. Cannegieter Street

The Sint Maarten Police Force has received several complaints in the past regarding the traffic congestion on the C.A. Cannegieter Street, during the after school pick-up hours. The buses picking up the children from the Oranje School would park on the street of C.A Cannegieter, causing the traffic to be congested. The school bus drives, members of the community in collaboration with the Sint Maarten Police came together to find a solution that will help to improve the traffic flow in the area.

As of Monday 25th 2019, between the hours of 12:00pm – 2:00pm, from Monday –Friday, the school busses , with the assistance of the Bike Patrol; will now reverse into the Schoolsteeg  street next to the Oranje School to collect the children after school. The busses will no longer line up on the C.A. Cannegieter Street. This should provide some relief to the traffic congestion. The Bike Patrol will direct traffic during the hours of 12:00pm to 2:00pm to ensure the flow is smooth.

All drivers are asked to take note of this traffic change and be conscious not to park in the alley during these hours.
