Boat with illegals intercepted.
On Thursday October 3rd 2019, approximately 02.45 pm a concerned citizen call the police dispatched , concerning a suspicious yacht that just docked at Walther Plantz pier. At the location the police patrol encountered a yacht with the name SOLETUDE with about 14 passenger with a 3 man crew aboard. The captain and crew could not give a good reason for docking in Sint Maarten without first clearing customs and immigration. The passengers and crew members were brought over to the police station and being held for questioning. The human smuggling team together with immigration department are busy with the investigation . According to information gathered, the boat set sailed out Dominica a few days ago . The final destination of the yacht is still a mystery.
Apartment on fire in south reward
The police patrol together with the Fire department was dispatched to Peach road for a fire. According to the information provided to the police , a women was attempting to light her stove realized fire was sparking from the hose attached to the liquefied petroleum cylinder, kept inside the apartment. The spark caused a small explosion in the unit. The fire fighters who arrived on the scene rushed inside to minimize the spread of the blaze. The fire department personnel were able to get the fire quickly under control in the apartment.
The ambulance department gave first aid to the two victims who were in the apartment who suffered minor injuries. The police department is asking the residence to pay keen attention to the risks associated with flammable objects kept in their homes.
Accident on the A.J.C Brouwers road.
The traffic department is investigated a Wednesday evening crash on the Brouwers road in the vicinity of Kruyhoff rounda-bout, between a Hyundai Tucson number plate P-7225, a kia Rio P-8802 and a Saturn Vue. According to the information gathered at the scene, the driver of the Hyundai Tuscan was driving in the direction of Harold jack, lost control and collide with the kia Rio going in the same direction. After colliding with the Kia Rio the driver then swerved to the left side of the road and collided with the Saturn that was. driving towards the round-about.
The collision left all 3 cars severely damaged. Personal from the ambulance department treated the driver of the Hyundai Tucson on the scene. The traffic department is still investigating this accident.
