Press release                                                                                     11 Mach 2024

Subject: Retrieval of Seized Scooters by Sint Maarten Police Force

The Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) has been working over the past few months to ensure the safety and compliance of vehicles on our roads. As part of this effort, officers have seized numerous scooters that were found to be lacking the proper documentation or were not in compliance with technical requirements for public road use.

While we understand that this message may sound repetitive, it is imperative that KPSM reiterate the importance of adhering to the necessary legal and technical standards. Consequently, we are once again reaching out to the owners or legal representatives of these seized scooters, urging them to come forward with the required documentation to reclaim their vehicles.

We want to emphasize that the process for reclaiming these scooters must be followed, and it is vital for the public to be aware of their opportunity to retrieve their property. Failure to comply within a timely manner may result in the disposal of these vehicles in accordance with established procedures.

Therefore, we urge all affected individuals to contact the Sint Maarten Police Force to arrange for the retrieval of their scooters. This will not only ensure the proper handling of the vehicles but also contribute to the safety and regulation of our roads.

For further assistance or inquiries regarding the retrieval process, please contact the Sint Maarten Police Force at +1721 5542222

We appreciate the cooperation of the public in this matter.

Police Force of Sint Maarten Addresses Easter Weekend Preparations

As the Easter weekend approaches at the end of March, the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is gearing up for the anticipated increase in activities across the island. Traditionally, this period sees a surge in events and gatherings, particularly at Mullet Bay Beach, including camping activities.

In anticipation of the influx of visitors to Mullet Bay Beach, KPSM has engaged in discussions with the management of Mullet Bay property owners to address the potential traffic and parking challenges in the area. KPSM would like to announce that an agreement has been reached, ensuring additional parking spaces for beachgoers.

The management of Mullet Bay has made parking space available for patrons utilizing the beach. In addition to the regular public parking lot, extra parking spaces will be accessible behind the Golf Shop at the entrance of Rhine Road. This arrangement aims to alleviate congestion and facilitate a smoother flow of traffic in the vicinity.

It’s important to note that this additional parking arrangement is temporary and specifically designated for the Easter weekend festivities.

However, in light of the existing congestion on Rhine Road leading to Cupe-Coy, we urge visitors to Mullet Bay Beach not to park their vehicles along the roadside. Any vehicle found obstructing the free flow of traffic will be subject to towing. Additionally, we kindly request that individuals refrain from parking on the Golf Course.

The cooperation and understanding of all beachgoers are essential in ensuring a safe and enjoyable Easter weekend for everyone. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these parking guidelines and encourage everyone to enjoy the festivities responsibly.

Traffic Accident on Sucker Garden Road

On Monday, March 11th, 2024, at approximately 3:00 PM, Central Dispatch received several calls regarding a traffic accident on the Sucker Garden Road. The incident resulted in the blockage of the road, causing significant traffic congestion in the area. Promptly responding to the calls, several police patrols and members of the Traffic Department were dispatched to the scene to address the situation.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a three-vehicle collision involving two small white trucks and a personal vehicle. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of one of the white trucks experienced a brake failure, leading to a collision with the truck ahead. Subsequently, the second truck collided with a gray SUV due to the impact.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the accident. However, the collision caused considerable disruption to traffic flow in the vicinity.

The Traffic Department is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine any contributing factors and ensure accountability.

We remind all motorists to exercise caution and maintain vigilance while on the roads, adhering to all traffic regulations and ensuring the proper maintenance of their vehicles to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
