CHATA reports Curaçao’s hotels achieved a 72.8% average room occupancy in April 2024 with an 8% growth in the hotels’ revenue per available room.

As we journey through 2024, the results from April continue to showcase the resilience and growing appeal of Curaçao’s hospitality sector. We are pleased to share with you these encouraging developments, underscoring our collective success in making Curaçao a premier destination.
April 2024 Highlights
Occupancy and Revenue Performance: Our hotels achieved an occupancy rate of 72.8% in April 2024, slightly higher than the 72.7% recorded in April 2023. Although this represents a modest increase, it demonstrates stability in guest visits. Moreover, Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR) has increased by 7.9%, from $163.47 in April 2023 to $176.43 in April 2024.
Room Rate Efficiency: The Average Daily Rate (ADR) also saw a healthy increase, rising by 7.8% to reach $242.42 in April 2024 up from $224.85 in the previous year. This increase highlights our ability to enhance value while maintaining competitive pricing.
Year-to-Date Performance: Looking at the year-to-date figures, we see a cumulative increase in RevPAR of 18.1%, with values moving from $174.09 in 2023 to $205.55 in 2024. ADR year-to-date also shows a significant improvement of 14.2%, emphasizing our sustained effort to optimize room revenue.
Detailed Visitor Analysis
Tourist Arrivals by Country: Netherlands: Led the chart with 22,343 visitors, up by 31.5%, highlighting its pivotal role in our tourism sector. USA: Followed with 14,328 visitors, growing by 19.9%. Canada and Brazil showed remarkable increases of 52.1% and 124.5%, respectively, emphasizing our expanding appeal in these markets. Colombia held steady, showing a slight change with 0.9% growth. Visitor nights from the Netherlands were most significant, totaling 247,151, which is a 32.2% increase. The average length of stay for visitors from Brazil improved to 7.0 nights, illustrating the effectiveness of targeted promotions in this region.
Strategic Initiatives and Upcoming Events: Language and Hospitality Training: Building on the success of our initial language offerings, we’re expanding our training programs to include more languages and hospitality-focused courses. This will empower our members to cater to an even broader audience and improve guest experiences. We will continue with Portuguese (Brazilian) and also English add on courses.
Product Development Task Forces (TF): Our task forces remain dedicated to innovation, working collaboratively to enhance our services and ensure Curaçao stands out in a competitive market. The first ones have already started; 1. The Human Relations TF is already very busy and we will have results end of May. 2. Diving TF immediate priority and we have had meetings already; Culture TF will start next week.
