Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) is pleased to announce the results of its various public relations activities in partnership with Bonaire’s PR firm, Diamond Public Relations, for 2024.
2024 Public Relations Strategy
The 2024 public relations strategies targeted efforts to drive awareness of Bonaire to existing markets in North America and Europe, approach new markets, such as German-speaking countries such as Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (GAS market), and focus on new travel trends, including solo travel, culinary travel, and wellness travel. Furthermore, the public relations efforts continued to emphasize the island’s commitment to nature preservation and local culture to attract visitors who share similar values and desire to engage with the local community.
Results
Throughout the year 2024, the various public relations efforts generated a mix of digital, print, and social media coverage, resulting in a sweeping reach of more than 243.5 million overall media impressions and 109 earned media placements in North America, and more than 40.4 million overall media impressions and 73 earned media placements in Europe. Bonaire and its partners welcomed and hosted 5 individual media and 3 press groups from North America to the island, and 4 individual media and 1 television production crew from Europe to the island.

The top highlights of the year in North America included coverage of Bonaire and mention of its partners in National Geographic’s “Best of the World” list for 2024, Travel and Leisure’s 2024 World’s Best Awards as one of the top 25 favorite islands in the Caribbean, Artful Living Winter 2024 issue, TravelAgeWest.com, LuxuryTravelMagazine.com, Forbes.com, Travel.USNews.com, Vogue.com, TorontoSun.com, MatadorNetwork.com, Veranda.com, TravelAndLeisure.com, Fodors.com, Essence.com, CNTraveler.com, Thrillist.com, The Today Show, LonelyPlanet.com, and many more, outcome of strategic pitching, media visits and established media relationships. Many of these media outlets are considered media giants in North America and feature topics most important to Americans and Canadians.
Additionally, the TCB team, in collaboration with Diamond Public Relations, participated at the International Media Marketplace in New York, the travel industry’s leading media networking event for destinations, PR professionals, journalists, editors, influencers, and more. Furthermore, the team hosted and coordinated a media event in New York, allowing island partners to connect with prominent media and influencer partners. This event aimed to promote the island, highlight new flight services and cultivate new leads.
