Skylar McBride Presents Her Recently Published Books at Sint Maarten Library

Teen author Skylar McBride recently presented three of her published books at the Sint Maarten Library. The books—”Melanin Magic,” “Crystal: My First Period Book,” and “Crystal’s Period Journal: Your Guide to Confidence and Care”—were warmly received by the librarian on behalf of the General Manager.

During her visit, Skylar also connected with young readers at the EGO Foundation Afterschool Program at the Sister Borgia Primary School, where she read excerpts from Melanin Magic. This book played an integral role in the Sint Maarten Library’s Black History Month Observances 2025, contributing to the celebration of Black heritage and culture.

Skylar’s message promotes self-love, self-acceptance, and confidence in one’s hair, skin tone, and beliefs. Through her storytelling, she encourages young readers to embrace their uniqueness and cultural identity.Her visit and engaging storytelling sessions inspired many young minds, emphasizing the importance of cultural representation and self-confidence.

Skylar McBride is a young author and the daughter of Heddrick McBride, founder of McBride Collections—a literary platform dedicated to providing diverse stories that educate, entertain, and inspire readers. Her books focus on themes of cultural identity, self-confidence, and personal growth, making a meaningful impact on young audiences.

The Sint Maarten Library remains committed to promoting literacy, education, and cultural awareness within the community, offering a variety of programs and resources for individuals of all ages.
