The Honourable Minister of Education, Culture, Youth & Sport, Melissa D. Gumbs, wishes to express gratitude to public education and all government-subsidized school boards for their collaboration and invaluable insights during the Foundation-Based Education Evaluation (FBE) study.
After more than twenty years of implementing FBE in all public and government-funded primary schools in Sint Maarten, the Ministry has commenced an evaluation of this system. This evaluation aims to gather insights and suggestions from stakeholders regarding FBE. It seeks to capture their key perspectives and collect feedback for potential improvements to the education system. To achieve this goal, the Creative Leadership and Innovation Management Bureau (CLIMB) Foundation, contracted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports (ECYS), held meaningful discussions with all school boards and has begun collecting data from schools and other key stakeholders. During these discussions, the school boards actively collaborated, provided feedback on the data collection instruments, and shared their candid experiences, perspectives, and recommendations for the evaluation framework.
The Ministry of ECYS appreciates the dedication of all stakeholders in this important endeavour. Their input will play a crucial role in shaping the future of primary education in Sint Maarten, ensuring that the system continues to evolve to meet the needs of students and educators alike. The Ministry looks forward to the next phases of the evaluation and remains committed to fostering a strong, inclusive, and high-quality educational environment for all.
