The Meteorological Department Curaçao is initiating a process to digitize climate files.
Coordinator of the “International Panel for Deltas and Coastal areas” (IPDC), Mr. Moon and Ms. van der Schee of KNMI were visiting the Meteorological Department Curaçao (MDC) to initiate the project of digitization of our archives, which is part of the project financed by the IPDC.
The climate archive of Meteo consists of data from as early as 1830. These data are from Curaçao and also the other islands that were part of the Netherlands Antilles. Once the data is digitized, it is possible to do, among other things, studies, analysis and research about the condition of our climate in the past and changes that are taking place at present.
The project of digitization of climate data is certainly a very important one for Meteo and also for our country.
