Visit of the National Restoration Fund and Cultural Heritage Agency
During their visit, they explored several of Saba’s historic and monumental sites and met with Commissioner of Culture Mr. Eviton Heyliger and Executive Assistant Jayaira Windfield-de Groot. They also engaged with members of the Working Group for Monuments on Saba, including Lukas van der Steen (Senior Policy Advisor – Infrastructural & Spatial Development), Shaigan Marten (Culture & Education Policy Advisor, Department of Community Development & Culture), and Sharifa Balfour (Director of the Saba Archaeological Center Foundation / Saba Heritage Center).
Discussions focused on the upcoming pilot project for the restoration of the island’s monuments, marking an important step toward preserving Saba’s built heritage.
The visit also included a tour of the Saba Heritage Center’s exhibition, offering a deeper appreciation of the island’s rich history and vibrant culture.
These exchanges lay a strong foundation for future collaboration, and we look forward to working together to preserve and celebrate Saba’s unique heritage for generations to come.
