Curaçao Welcomes International Media During Historic FIFA World Cup Debut

 

WILLEMSTAD – June 12, 2026 – In celebration of Curaçao’s historic first participation in the FIFA World Cup, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) has invited several international media representatives to visit the island. The initiative aims to give media professionals firsthand exposure to the excitement and national pride generated by Curaçao’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup, while also highlighting the island’s unique offerings. Visiting media delegation includes television networks, radio stations, print and digital publications, sports magazines, online media platforms, sports production teams, and social media influencers.      

 

Several international media representatives will visit Curaçao to cover the Blue Wave Watch Parties scheduled for June 14, 20, and 25, corresponding with Curaçao’s first three FIFA World Cup matches. Confirmed attendees include The Times (UK, with global readership), ARD (Germany), FHM, Men’s Health, Manners and Metro (the Netherlands), as well as Power FM (Aruba). Their coverage will focus on the atmosphere surrounding Curaçao’s historic World Cup 2026 participation and the celebration taking place across the island. 

 

Earlier, media representatives from ESPN Brazil, Placar (Brazil), TeleAruba, 24Ora and XFM (Aruba), Guardian Media Ltd (Trinidad), and Ajax’s production teams OneNil and FRSHMN (the Netherlands) attended the national team’s open training session and the international friendly match between Curaçao and Aruba. The first group of visiting media experienced the opening of Blue Nation and the vibrant blue light displays that illuminated Willemstad. This group included Vandaag Inside, De Oranje Zomer, podcast van Kieft, Jansen, Egmond and van der Gijp, AD, NOS, Voetbal Internationals (the Netherlands), ZDF, Pro7 Galileo (Germany), La Nación (Argentina) as well as influencers from Chile and Peru. Their visit marked the start of the international media program. 

 

Through these media visits, CTB aims to capitalized on the international exposure generated by Curaçao’s World Cup debut by highlighting the island’s unique culture, attractions and hospitality.
