Police action during J’ouvert Morning Parade on Saba

The J’ouvert Morning Parade started as scheduled at 3:30 AM on Saturday, August 1, near the Tourist Office parking lot in Windwardside. The parade ended at approximately 7:55 AM near the Carnival Village in The Bottom.

Before the parade began, all participating drivers underwent a breathalyzer test. All drivers passed. A total of three vehicles took part in the parade.

The parade proceeded smoothly. Police officers intervened in a few altercations and were able to calm the situations. At approximately 5:30 AM, a 24-year-old man with the initials D.G.S.G. was arrested on J.Z. Ridge Road for public drunkenness.

The main Carnival weekend continues this afternoon with the First Day Parade, which starts near Saba Cares at 3:30 PM.

Public reminder: Please do not park along the parade route. The parade will follow the usual route around the capital. Keeping the route clear helps ensure a safe and smooth experience for participants and spectators.

The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) will remain present throughout the festivities to help maintain a safe and orderly environment. Everyone is urged to follow the rules and help keep Carnival peaceful and enjoyable.
