GRAND CARNIVAL PARADE ON SABA

The Grand Carnival Parade took place on Saba. The parade started on Coble Street/Captain Matthew Levenstone Street near Saba Cares at 3:45 PM. Before the start of the parade, all drivers underwent a breathalyzer test, which all drivers passed. A total of ten vehicles participated in the parade. Before the parade set off, police also visited all vending locations to warn against the sale of drinks in glass bottles. During the parade, officers addressed several individuals along the street who were consuming in glass bottles.

During the parade, around 4:45 PM, a scooter was confiscated. The rider had driven onto the parade route while it was closed off by a police vehicle. When officers attempted to address the rider, he tried to get away. Shortly thereafter, the rider was intercepted. As the driver was a minor, he were unable to present a driver’s license, insurance documents, and the scooter lacked a license plate. These violations were sufficient grounds to confiscate the scooter and transport it to the police station. No further incidents were reported.

Additionally, after the parade, music had to be shut down at two different vending locations. KPCN urges everyone to adhere to the ruled, one of which strictly prohibits playing music following any parade or event. Finally, KPCN thanks everyone for their cooperation.

The main Carnival weekend continues tomorrow, Sunday, with the Last Lap Parade, which will start at 4:00 PM near Saba Cares. KPCN will remain present to help ensure a safe and orderly event.
