Pensá komo un selebrashon di Curaçao Pride, e eksposishon ta presentá pintura, fotografia, medianan miksto, i arte digital ku ta eksplorá tantu eksperiensianan personal komo esnan kompartí. Miéntras algun obra ta trata e identidat LGBTQ+ direktamente, otronan ta enfrent’é di un forma abstrakto, utilisando paisahe, spiritualidat, koló i memoria, invitando e bishitantenan pa deskubrí e tantísimo maneranan ku bida i eksperiensianan kuèrdu ta wòrdu ekspresá pa medio di arte kontemporáneo.

Hedendaagse tentoonstelling viert Lhbtiq+-stemmen tijdens Curaçao Pride 2026
WILLEMSTAD – De expositie ‘Continuum: We Are Here’ brengt acht lhbtiq+ kunstenaars samen wier werk de vele manieren weerspiegelt waarop identiteit, herinnering, verbondenheid en menselijke connectie worden ervaren en uitgedrukt.
De tentoonstelling, opgezet als een viering van Curaçao Pride, presenteert schilderkunst, fotografie, mixed media en digitale kunst die zowel persoonlijke als gedeelde ervaringen onderzoekt. Sommige werken gaan rechtstreeks in op lhbtiq+-identiteit. Andere benaderen deze thema’s via abstractie, landschap, spiritualiteit, kleur en herinnering, en nodigen bezoekers uit om te ontdekken op hoeveel verschillende manieren queer levens en ervaringen in de hedendaagse kunst tot uitdrukking komen.
In plaats van één definitie van de lhbtiq+-ervaring te presenteren, viert Continuum juist de diversiteit ervan. De tentoonstelling erkent dat identiteit voortdurend wordt gevormd door herinnering, plaats, relaties en geleefde ervaring. Samen laten de kunstenaars zien dat zichtbaarheid vreugdevol, beschouwend, diep persoonlijk en op stille wijze transformerend kan zijn.
Deelnemende kunstenaars
De tentoonstelling omvat twee niet eerder getoonde schilderijen van Felix de Rooy. Zijn decennialange kunstenaarspraktijk en zijn bijdragen aan de zichtbaarheid van lhbtiq+ mensen op Curaçao geven Continuum een belangrijke aanwezigheid over generaties heen. Zijn werk wordt getoond naast dat van kunstenaars uit verschillende generaties en met uiteenlopende praktijken, waardoor een dialoog ontstaat tussen ervaringen, perspectieven en tijd. De deelnemende kunstenaars zijn Isabel Bérénos, Gary Cruz, Avinash J. Daryanani, Tatiana Felix, Quirine Guato, Omar Maduro en Yoskar Martina.
Samen brengen de acht kunstenaars verschillende benaderingen van de hedendaagse kunstpraktijk bijeen, terwijl zij het belang van lhbtiq+-representatie en de vele vormen die zichtbaarheid kan aannemen onderstrepen.
“Deze tentoonstelling gaat er niet om mensen te vragen de wereld op dezelfde manier te zien. Het gaat erom te erkennen dat ieder leven een ander perspectief toevoegt aan een verhaal dat we delen. Of het werk nu abstract of figuratief is, ingetogen of uitgesproken, iedere kunstenaar herinnert ons eraan dat aanwezig zijn – dat we hier zijn – op zichzelf iets is om te vieren”, zegt curator en kunstenaar Gary Cruz.
Gallery Keizershof, gevestigd in een van de historische gebouwen van Otrobanda, biedt tijdens Curaçao Pride een intieme omgeving voor reflectie, gesprek en viering.
Met werken in uiteenlopende formaten en media nodigt Continuum: We Are Here bezoekers uit na te denken over hoe kunst empathie kan creëren, dialoog kan bevorderen en de vele manieren kan vieren waarop lhbtiq+ mensen de wereld om hen heen ervaren en mede vormgeven.
De tentoonstelling opent met een publieke receptie op dinsdag 29 september 2026 van 19.00 tot 22.00 uur bij Gallery Keizershof aan de Havenstraat en loopt tot en met 24 oktober 2026. Toegang is gratis.

Contemporary Exhibition Celebrates LGBTQ+ Voices During Curaçao Pride 2026
WILLEMSTAD – Continuum: We Are Here brings together eight LGBTQ+ artists whose work reflects the many ways identity, memory, belonging, and human connection are experienced and expressed.
Conceived as a celebration of Curaçao Pride, the exhibition presents painting, photography, mixed media, and digital art that explores both personal and shared experiences. While some works address LGBTQ+ identity directly, others approach it through abstraction, landscape, spirituality, color, and memory, inviting visitors to discover the many ways queer lives and experiences are expressed through contemporary art.
The exhibition opens with a public reception on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 7:00-10:00 p.m. at Gallery Luna Blou in Willemstad and continues through October 24, 2026.
Rather than presenting a single definition of LGBTQ+ experience, Continuum celebrates its diversity. The exhibition recognizes that identity is continually shaped by memory, place, relationships, and lived experience. Together, the artists demonstrate that visibility can be joyful, contemplative, deeply personal, and quietly transformative.

The exhibition includes two previously unseen paintings by Felix de Rooy, whose decades-long artistic practice and contributions to LGBTQ+ visibility in Curaçao provide an important generational presence within Continuum. His work is presented alongside artists of different generations and practices, creating a dialogue across experiences, perspectives, and time.
Together, the eight artists bring distinct approaches to contemporary practice while affirming the importance of LGBTQ+ representation and the many forms that visibility can take.
