Supermarket in Philipsburg robbed

The Special Unit Robbery is presently investigating an armed robbery which took place on Wednesday March 1st at approximately 02.55 p.m. at Hong Kong Supermarket located opposite the UTS building on the Cannegieter Street in Philipsburg. According to reports an unknown man dressed in dark colored clothing with his face partially entered the establishment and held up the cashier with gun. The suspect went on to steal an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register and then fled in the scene on foot in the direction of Back street. Several police patrols were sent to search the area for the suspect but they were not successful in locating him.
The Special Unit Robbery is asking anyone who may have seen what took place or have any information regarding this robbery to immediately get in contact with the Detective Department by calling Tel: 54-22222 ext. 213-214.

Parking prohibition and additional information

In connection with 2017 Heineken Regatta which started on Thursday March 2nd 2017 and will end on Sunday March 5th the police department is making the following announcement;
The main venue for this event will be at the Kim Sha Beach in Simpson Bay and due to the large amount of visitors from abroad and persons from the community that will be attending the shows of this event there will be “NO PARKING” on the Kim Sha beach on Saturday March 4th and Sunday March 5th.
The entire community is urged to give their fullest cooperation to the organizers of this event as well as the police department to make this event a very successful one. Misconduct by anyone attending these during the event can result in this person being arrested. (See transaction list for conditional dismissal attached)
